Meaning and Functions of Hıdırellez

A conference titled "Meaning and Functions of Hıdırellez" will be organized by the Traditional Turkish Handicrafts Research and Application Center within the scope of "Hıdırellez Celebrations". This conference will be held with the participation of Marmara University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Turkish Language and Literature Department Turkish Folk Literature Department Lecturer Mr. Prof. Mehmet AÇA, Ph.D.  and moderated by Assoc. Prof. Serap ASLAN COBUTOĞLU, Ph.D.. The purpose of this conference is to talk about the meaning and importance of Hıdırellez day, which is one of the seasonal holidays known throughout the Turkish World and called Ruz-ı Hızır (Hızır day), to explain the celebrations and ritualistic practices for this special holiday in the Turkish cultural geography with examples, and to talk about functions of Hıdırellez.
